I have written so much to yr Father, I guess I cant say much to you but you can consider his letter directed to you also. This is for you alone- I did not know you showed my letters to any one till he told me. But to begin, I should think you were getting along pretty fast kiting around with those stranger Lts. & playing cards with them &c &c &c. What a devoted wife. Shall you enlist? It amuses me to have you say so much about our staying at home

judging from the past I reckon you will soon get tired of staying at home. what do you think really? You know how you are always going to stay at home when I leave you, & again when I come. Now I am getting so I dont believe much in staying at home, & I fear you would consider it a pretty severe punishment to do so. Of course I dont care about the room, I told you to do as you pleased. I ment by its being public, that every body was in & out there as they pleased & in fact at all times. I thought that as all yr friends, male as well as female being in the habit of making yr whole house answer their convenience,

they would be more likely to blunder in that room at times I should not quite approve of, & in fact if they came in at all it would be so. But perhaps you are more careful now than formerly. Yes darling I think it is delightful to get a letter every day, but I fear imposing too much on you, is’nt it? I cant tell when the war will close or when I can come. Most people think we can get through by another summer. I should be delighted to see you if it were not for leaving again. That would more than counter balance the pleasure. Wont I be glad to come when this work is done up! If you are

the right sort of wife I shall stay with you probably. How much happiness I lot upon. Will it ever be realized? Yes I hear fr home. I wish you were here tonight. The General’s wife is here, I have scarcely spoken to a woman since I came. O I would like to fold you to my heart. My own dearest love, my own wife. Wish you could see my horse. Its a regular pet, will follow me anywhere & is afraid of nothing. You ought to see my black boy play with it. There seems to be a kind of affinity between them. Good night my own angel. My beautiful wife- When shall I see & hold you in my arms.
