Its late & I cant stop to write very much. But I do love you immensely. We had quite a time last night. One man was shot dead. The boys attempted to tear down the Sutlers shop in camp & a guard inside shot at them - & killed one. It caused a terrible excitement. My Co. was the first on the ground to quell the riot, altho they all sympathized with the rioters. Col. Hyde was away & I was in command. I got out two Cos & doubled all the guard. so that all was soon quiet. but they now swear to kill Col. Hyde & the man who shot. The Col. is away to night & left me in command. We have got all ready for anything but anticipate no troubles to-night Outsiders make more excitement than all else. They talk

like fools of course as they know nothing about it, & hear everything but the truth. Col Hyde showed the right grit.

We leave Wednesday morn I send my over coat & the pictures I have an overcoat from the state, & a new army blue cap. Now darling kiss & love yr own devoted husband. I want to see you my love & would if it were possible. You are a perfect wife I do believe I want to come home to live with you & will vy soon. My regards to all-
