William Wirt Henry to Mary Jane Henry
Primary tabs
I recd. your letter of the 9th last night. I did not get a chance to write you just one little word all the week for we had lots of work to do, in the first of the week the Col went to Washington to get his wife, and I was left in command of the Regt. and had everything to attend - the last of the week we had to move down here, which was another big job - we are now only 13 miles from Washington. I am going to the city in the morning to see if I can get any money and if I can I shall put in a petition for a short leave of absence at once, to be home at Thanksgiving so I am not going to write much this time but I will write you again in the city how I prosper. Am well - all goes lovely.
As ever yours William
