I recieved your last letter also the Affidavit which Father sent but as I have
had no time and as the Envelope has not had time to get along I have not been
down, but as soon as it comes I shall go and see what is a going to be done
about it and I have considerable faith in getting it back I am still attending
the Court Marshall and have to be there a good share of my time and the Company
is commanded by Lieut Sherman but for some reason we have had no drills lately
and I think that perhaps Col Cameron has had orders from the war department to
discontinue them - so the men as well as officers have very little to do and I
am sorry it is so for it would be for the health of all to drill for 2 or 3
hours per day and I shall begin to look our for more sick in the hospital soon,
Since I last wrote
you I have been quite unwell but not so as to
quit my duties I caught a severe cold and the Doctor thought I was going to have
another fever but the next day he told me (which was yesterday) that I was all
right and that I would not have it if I was carefull he would assure me and I
was somewhat pleased to hear it for to have another fever so soon would be
rather unpleasant. I have kept going and to day feel pretty well I
enclosed sent you some Papers this morning and will continue to
do so as long as we stay here. The talked of box has not yet arrived but I
expect it to day or tomorrow and I anticipate much pleasure in sleeping on the
pillow and in drinking the wine. I will not write much this time as my time is
limited and in a few minutes I have got to appear at head quarters to attend to
my duties We are to be mustered for pay day after tomorrow and it is thought we
will receive it in the Course of 2 or 3 weeks. Kiss the children and Hat
also
Truly your aff Husband
