you will see by the above that I am safe of over my journey I arrived
at this place the 15th am as well as usual and found Caleb well this is the
first oppertunity that I have had to write and am sending a line to the Boys I
had excellent luck Traveling no delay,s nor accidents of any kind there is no
more dangers traveling alone than with company if a person knows what
is what I think I shall like ever so much the land here is not wet it is part
rolling it looks strange to see land that never was cultivated without stones or
stumps we are within 3 miles of timber Calebs Corn is good for this year the
late planted is the best for they had a frost that cut the early planted bad
I stoped at Bangor they were all as well as usual I sent that Miniature to Mrs
Lock will you write whether she [received] it will you write
soon give my love to aunt L and
all of the children it is so dark that
I cant see the lines so please excuse me for this time it is against the
[Quaker] principles to have lights the Mrs
Blanchard started for Vt last week there is a family in the house besides me the
people are mostly Eastern a good many wer from Peacham Vt the only fault I Find
with the place, is it is not far enough back
