I will drop you a line to inform you that I shall not be at home this week on
account of a lecture to be held here Friday night, that is unless I come down
with the measles there is a number of cases here in the village & one of
the D's that went to school yesterday came down last night with them. The
lecturer's
name is Perkins, his subject is The History of Vt. Mr.
Campbell has given me my bill & perhaps if I do not come hom you had
better send me that money. I have been down to Mrs.
[Hemerit's] to see about my dreess it is to be
made polanaise for $2. I would write more if I had time but I have not, so must
close, if you think I had better come write, if you send my money tell Smith
not to send it to Portland or [ ] but Johnson
