your letter was rec'd a few days ago and in reply would say that you must have
made a great mistake in reading my last. I think that if you look it over
closely again you will find that I said "I didn't see what you could want of
my
photo unless you wanted to hang it up in
some corn field" I dont think you or any one else ever heard me say a word
against Peter Bassett. and as for you riding to & from the junction with
him, what do you suppose I care about that? That was all proper enough. You will
perhaps think that this letter is somewhat brief but I have not time to write
any more and nothing more to say.
