Brookfield April [   ]9Absent friend

I take this to let you know that I am well and hope that you are favoured with the same blessing I should be glad to see you but the love of money will not at the present I can say that my affections have not less in no degree for you

I calculate now to come home next winter and should you not have a more agreeable offer I would renew mine [than] if your true friend ship not happiness is happiness to be found so let us be and not to make urselves unhappy for whar is not thare is hatred and that is what makes so miserable matches

I should like to know how [ ] got along with [Parrum] has she burnt all of the boys shingles up yet I heard that thar was a great scarcity of lumber I wish you to write as soon you receive this
