My dear
Sir:
A day or two since I met in
Boston Mr Brigham (perhaps Peter) at
the office of Hon. Halsey J. Boardman (an
attorney) and learned he was from the
town of Bakersfield, Vt. and was advis-
ing with Boardman about making his
will, having between two and three
millions, and no near heirs. I urged
them to go to Burlington, and they
would find a live institution quite
worthy of the most liberal help.
Mr. Boardman is a Vermonter
and my cousin, he is a grad-
uate of Dartmouth, and
his office
is No 17 State St Room 8. Mr. Brigham
I think is inclined to give to
colleges. Whether you and Mr. Powell
can do anything to promote the in-
terests of the Vt. Un. & State Ag. coll.
I do not know. Perhaps Mr Powell
might quietly explore Bakersfield and
then to
be in Boston some
day. I have already done all I
can. Very truly yours
Justin S. Morrill
