Dear Sir:

Senator Howland of Barre has consented to head a
Legislative to call upon Governor Clement in the
near future to ask him to state the conditions upon which
he will call a special session to consider ratification of
the Federal Suffrage Amendment.

As far as possible I am calling personally upon
members of the Legislature who live in accessible towns,
and am asking others to sign one or the other of enclosed
petitions and mail at once to me.

Over thirty prominent Senators and Representatives
have signed the petition and will go to the session
without expense to the State.

convenience.

I am not in favor of calling a
special session of the Legislature for the above purpose.
It will cost the State quite a sum of money.
We gave the Women a right to vote in Town Affairs
by paying a tax the same as men and they will in all
probability be given full suffrage when the Legislature
meets in regular session in 1921.
