COMMITTEE ON FINANCE,
UNITED STATES
SENATE,
April 25, 1884.
Dear sir:
I have your favor of the
23" instant, and it is a little doubt-
ful whether any of the old editon
of the Digest are obtainable as they
have been generally distributed until
exhausted, and none are likely to be
in the Document Room. If I can
secure one I will mail it to you.
I have called upon the
President and the General of the
Army in relation to the reappointment
of Lieut.
Tutherly it will be an up-hill
business as it sets a precedent for
other institutions who may have the
same desire; but I have urged the
matter all that it would be decent
for me to, upon the President and
also upon the General of the Army.
I have left all the papers with
the President to look at them
personally; hoping that there is
enough to produce an impression
upon him.
Very
truly yours,
Presd't M.H. Buckham,
Burlington, Vt.
