I take this opportunity to write a few lines to you. I am well and enjoy soldiers life very well so far plenty to eat and that which is good. We organised our company this after noon and elected officers. Cap- W. Haselton, 1st Lieu. W. Reynolds of Clochester, 2nd Lt. E. Kinny 1st Serj. E Holten 2nd Fletcher 3rd Macomber, 4th Williams 5th Holton &c - I am appointed 4th Serj. but on account of some hard feelings I think that I shall take the place

of Corporal in the place of Brownell and he will take my place. We were sworn in this evening but we are not examined untill morning. We expect to start Thursday morning for the south, so perhaps you had better come up here on Wednesday if you come at all.
