I have moved into my new hut & am all ready for you, so I reckon you had
better come. Bed is all made wide enough for two and I
must have a bed fellow right of. Remember the sheets & pillow cases & a
curtin for a window of one sash & some corse towels. Write me when you will
be in Washington & I will meet you there. Go to the Metropolitan Hotel if
you should not see me at the depot. But now I dont know as your are able to come
for I have not heard a word from you since I first
wrote to you
about coming. Are you in a condition to come with perfect safety? Write immediately all about it. Dont come if you are able with
perfect safety And come with Mr.& Mrs Adams. It is a splendid time for them
to come to Washington. Dr. Frost of St. Johnsbury just called here. He is Capt
in the 10th Vt. O I do wish you were here to night in my arms. It is real cold
& the ground is covered with snow. What is use of having a wife so far away.
Do you suppose you can sleep on my hard boards. It will be as much too hard as
the beds at home were to soft for me. We shall have
to sleep the way
we did at Brattleboro at the Hotel. Not a bad way either was it? My own sweet
darling I do love you so much. I love you so much more than before we were
married, & shall more still if you continue good & worthy & faithful
& love me as you ought. I cannot tell why I continue to love you so much
more every day, I have not wronged you yet my own Angel & I do hope I never
shall. Be good & I am sure I shall be faithful. I cannot wrong so dear, so
sweet, so faithful a wife as you my own darling darling darling love. My perfect
Angel. My blessed wife. God bless you & keep you safe & pure
& devoted to your own fond husband. Be worthy of Gods protection & you
will receive it. We can do nothing without it. He must be our reliance &
support in prosperity, & he will be in adversity. How solemnly we plighted
our vows. Let us continue to look to Him daily & He will bless us. He will
give us a darling baby to bind us to-gether more than ever before. Do you love
yr own fond husband as you ought, & do you know how he loves you? I wish I
could kiss you my darling & fold you to my heart & go to sleep in your
soft arms on your darling bosom. Good night my angel God bless you.
