Your letter of Nov 3rd came to hand yesterday It came rather unexpected but I
was as glad to receive it as though I had been expecting it I am glad to hear th
at you are all well and geting along I think your letter came through very quick
I wrote to you a few days ago probably you have not received it yet When we are
exchanged I shall come home if I can but dont expect to eat apples and drink
cider with you till about a year more That land you are about to buy is a good
piece of pastureing and I believe it takes in a number of apple trees does it
not I think you got a good price for the steers Give my love to Carter and tell
him I hope he will not have the misfortune to be taken send

prisoner I knew that Wesley Watts was wounded but never knew certain
whether he lived or not I knew that Oramel Morse was killed I saw O Kimb all of
Bethel and Sergeant Everest fall from their horses wounded have not heard from
them since We went into the fight at Gettysburg and from that time untill Septem
ber we knew not what became of Capt Cushman we heard then that he was wounded
and went home Have you heard from Father lately where is he how is his health
and what is he doing I think the boys have done first rate this summer I am glad
to hear that Bill is gro wing and fating up My health is good I dont think of
any more to write now My best wishes to you all Good bye for this time
