I received your letter of the 22d inst. last night.

I accept your offer with great pleasure. I intended to start for Old Point to-day, but I find that I have got to get an order from Gen. McClellen ordering me to Old Point, which will probably detain me until Wednesday or Thursday, but I hope to be able to meet you before the expedition sailsstarts in case you have already started I hope you will write me that I may be able to join you.
