Dear Baird

A friend of mine who saw Mr Meredith on Saturday night says that Mr M. expressed surprise to learn that I wished for a foreign mission (or perhaps that I wished to go to Chili) from which I infer Mr Penrose has not found an opportunity of speaking to him on the subject. I certainly am
