Dear Sir:

Senator Howland of Barre has consented to head a
Legislative Coumittee to call upon Governor Clement in the
near future to ask him to state the conditions upon which
he will call a special session to consider ratification of
the Federal Suffrage Amendment.

As far as possible I am calling personally upon
members of the Legislature who live in accessible towns,
and am asking others to sign one or the other of enclosed
petitions and mail at once to me.

Over thirty prominent Senators and Representatives
have signed the petition and will go to the session
without expense to the State.

convenience.

I doubt very much if Gov. Clement can be induced to call
a Special Session for the [reason] indicated above. I voted for the
Suffrage bill that came up in the last Session and should
probably do the same thing again, but would rather not sign a
petition to the Governor at this time. I am
