The explanation with the original slide states that this rock fell between Thanksgiving and Christmas 1909. Its estimated weight is 5,000 tons - as estimated by "a Middlebury Professor." The slide was colored by Mrs. Perry and retouched by her on November 16, 1924.
A note on the original photograph states that this Patrol Car #1 was a Dodge, given by M. Proctor. The man driving is Roy Buchanan. Slide done by Eldred and colored by Mrs. Perry.
This sign marks the Southern terminus of the Vermont Long Trail and its junction with the Appalachian Trail. There are small arrow shaped markers on other tree trunks that read "Long Trail" and "AT." The negative is attributed to Puffer, the slide to Eldred, and the coloring to Mrs. Perry.
