V BRATTLEBORO AREA AIDS PROJECT Brattleboro, VT - The Brattleboro Area AIDS Project will host its l2th annual “Walk for Life” on Saturday, June 5, I999. The theme of this year’s walk is “Friends for Life.” This year’s Walk marks the 12th anniversary of when the commu- nity first joined together to walk in support of HIV/AIDS services and education. _ Walkers are asked to gather pledges in support of the Brattleboro Area AIDS Project. The funds raised by the “Walk for Life” provide direct services to people with HIV/AIDS and a wide variety of prevention educa- tion programs. Prizes will be awarded to the top walkers who raise the most money in pledges. The first 50 walkers registering at the Walk with $100 in pre-paid pledges will ‘receive a I999 Walk for Life T-shirt. The “Walk for Life” will begin ‘at Il:0O am proceeding down Main Street to the Brattleboro Food Co—op parking lot and continuing back up Main Street to the gazebo at the Town Common. Following the Walk, at approximately noon, refresh- ments and entertainment will be available free of charge to all walkers. . V THE VERMONT FREEDOM TO MARRY TASK FORCE - The Vermont Freedom to Marry Task -Force is gearing up in anticipation of the Vermont Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Baker v. State. In late March, 30 activists from around the state met to discuss the Task Force’s, plans and structure. Among other things, we commit- ted to fortifying the organiza- tion’s regional chapters, and to establishing them where they don’t currently exist. : _ Please, please, please contact the Task Force to volunteer to get involved — we need everything from regional coordinators, board members and envelope stuffers to fund raisers, speakers, and donors. lt’s going to be an incred- ibly busy year, and we need all of the volunteer and leadership help we can get! In the meantime, Task Force volunteers are combing the state in connection with the Vermont Voices for Equality project —- an attempt to gather signatures from Vermonters of all vocations who are willing to commit themselves publicly in support of equal free- dom to many.
