As one of only two gay people in the House, I feel that I would like to ac- tively represent our community’s needs and be responsive to the concerns of les- bian and gay constituents, as well. Towards that end, I am submitting the fol- lowing insert for your Vermont Area Re- ' sources section on theback coverof0ITM. I feel having my insert next to Ron Squire’s would be a powerful statement that we gays have doubled our repre- sentation in the House and have resources to serve our community in both northern and southern Vermont. V DearEditor, -‘ As you are aware, the State of Colorado re- cently passed the most homophobic and horrendous legislation to be enacted in re- cent times. that one of the prime financial supporters of this amendment and one of the strongest op- ponents of gay and lesbian civil rights is a man named Wil Perkins, who is the owner of Perkins Chrysler Plymouth dealership in Colorado Springs. What you might not be aware of, is the fact I i i As this amendment has basically been un- derwritten by frmds from the sale of Chrys- ’ ler cars and as the corporate headquarters of Chrysler has not in any way assisted in the fight against bigotry, to my knowledge. I i would request that you inform your readers of these facts so that they may make up their ‘ own minds as to whether they wish to par- ticipate in a boycott of Chrysler products. 1 l l On an allied note, many gay men and les- bians ski in the state of Colorado, vacation there, and attend rodeos and other gay events throughout the year. As the state of Colorado has informed the gay and lesbian community that we are not deserving of equal justice under the law, it seems only appropriate that we, as a com- I munity, inform the state of Colorado that we can not participate in events in the state and, more importantly, can not give them the tourist dollars which we have consistently l given in the past. i Boycott Colorado! Boycott Chrysler! ‘ Sincerely, Ian C. Gibson-Smith Thomas 6. Martin Washington, D. C. What a wonderful publication for gay and lesbian peoplell Keep up the good work. ' A. Faskal Mill Valley, CA V
