Announcements * 1.. . Christina Kelly (left) & Patricia Houran (right) Houran-Kelly Wedding Patricia Houran and Christina Kelly were married on Saturday, August 22, 1992. The ceremony was attended by 60 of their close friends and family at the Kelly farm in Hoosick, NY. Ann Brown of Sonoma, CA, presided over the ceremony. Amy Jo Norton of Shaftsbury coordinated the ceremony music. Various friends participated in the service which in- cluded reading from the writings of Adrienne Rich, Robert Browning, Kate Millett, Ka- hil Gibran and Baal Shem Tov. Barbara and Cal Kelly, Christina’s parents, hosted the event. The couple’s two children, Jessica Houran, _8 and James Houran, 6, were the ringbearers. Each carried a gold band in a colorful Guatemalan pouch. Patricia wore a teal silk top and a long ivory silk skirt. Christina wore a sleeveless ivory silk top and purple silk pants, highlighted by a handmade silk scarf tied at the waist. The ceremony opened with the song, The Ones Who Aren't Here, composed by John Calvi of Putney. The brides shared their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for every- one who came out to support their love and commitment, and for all who helped with the wedding arrangements. The readings and several songs followed, including Annie's Song by John Denver and Asking Us to Dance, sung by Kathy Mattea. In keeping with Hawaiian tradition, the brides folded a thousand paper cranes to bring good fortune and hung them on strings of lavender yarn. The couple exchanged vows and rings under a canopy of tall locust trees,surrounded by a circle of friends and fami- ly. After the recitation of vows, the presider led the congregation in the pronouncement of the marriage and read a blessing. Then everyone joined hands in a circle and sang _Chris Williamson’~s Song of the Soul together. Following the ceremony, guests gathered In the yard for a buffet luncheon. After the meal, a dessert table was set with a variety of delicious pastries and cakes brought by several guests. Patricia is a student at Southern Vermont College. Christina is a graduate of the Uni- versity of the State of New York and employed at an elementary school in Bennington.
