AN EVENING WITH NEIL MILLER:
BOOKSIGNING AND FUND—RAISER FOR
OUT IN THE MOUNTAINS

Chassman & Bem, Booksellers is pleased to invite you to an evening with
award-winning writer Neil Miller in honor of the recent publication of his book
Out in the World. The evening of November’20th will commence with Mr.
Miller signing his books at Chassman & Bem, Booksellers from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
Immediately following, Pearls Bar will host a fund—raising reception for guest-of-
honor Neil Miller benefiting Out in the Mountains, Vermont’s newspaper for
gays, lesbians, and bisexuals. I

In his award-winning In Search of Gay America, Neil Miller dispelled
stereotypes with his evocative portraits of gays and lesbians in small cities and
rural towns across the country. Now, in Out in the World, he takes us on a
fascinating and unique tour through even less-chartered territory: the current
state of gay and lesbian life in twelve countries around the globe.

Neil Miller is the former editor of Boston’s Gay Community News and was a
staff writer at the Boston Phoenix. His book In Search of Gay America won the
1990 American Library Association Prize for lesbian and gay nonfiction, as well
as a Lambda Literary Award.

Chassman & Bem, Booksellers is pleased to be part of this evening of fund-
raising for Out in the Mountains. Accordingly, we will donate a portion of the
proceeds earned from sale of Neil Miller’s books at Pearls Bar to show our
support of the newspaper.
