Out in the Mountains Letters to the Editor Dear OITM, It was good to read R.L. of Bur1ington’s suggestion to use Public Access TV as a means of continuing to educate the pub- lic. (April ‘92) We have been using Pub- lic Access in Rutland for a number of years to both entertain and educate our neighbors. With regard to cost and means of producing a show: the purpose of Public Access is to be accessible to anyone in the community who has a de- sire to learn how. Free instruction in the use of studio cameras, camcorders, ed- iting equipment and production is pro- vided. Program production is also done at no charge. One only need contact their local Cable TV provider to get information. Public Access is a wonderful tool to be used and welcomes the diversity of many voices to its programming agenda. After learning how, one may simply ar- range to tape a public meeting, concert or theatrical production to be aired. Oth- ers may wish to produce their own con- sciousness raising spots, panel dis- 2 The gay and lesbian community of San Francisco moves en-masse to Vermont cussions, original theatre, artistic inter- pretations, etc. With regard to OITM interest and issues: if you do produce a piece for Public Ac- cess TV send an announcement with short review to OITM so those of us in another county can then request your production to be shown over our local Public Access channel. Together, we can all take another step out of the closet into a community of greater awareness.
