Vermont Pride has started planning its
tenth anniversary celebration. This year
we will be back in Montpelier on June 6,
1992.

To make this successful we need your
help now. If you are interested in work-
ing on the Pride Committee we want
you. We are planning some fund raisers
for the spring and summer and need your
help to make them successful. We are
also planning the 5th annual lesbian/gay
pride co-coordinators conference in

Kevin Murray
plead no contest

Kevin Murray plead no contest to a charge
of attempted murder on January 6, 1992,
and was sentenced to 5-20 years in prison.
Murray, who attacked Roger Macomber
outside Pearls Bar in April of 1990, is the
first person to be convicted in connection
with Vermont’s Hate Crime law. It was
the viciousness of Murray’s attack and his
statement to Burlington police that he had
gone looking to hurt a “fag”, that helped
spur passage of the hate crimes legislation
in 1990. The bill increased the possible
penalty for defendants who commit crimes
based on hatred of race, religion, or sexual
