This is why many people see the Grand
Jury as a form of political inquisition,
or a way to get activists into secret
rooms, ask them questions about or-
ganizations, demonstrations, and civil
disobedience, and pursue crimes that
may or may not have been committed.
Because of the jeopardy that the Grand
Jury puts witnesses into many people
are refusing to testify and are being
thrown in jail on contempt of court
charges instead of ratting on their
friends. All people need to be aware of
the threat that grand juries pose es-
pecially if you or someone you know is
involved in political activism, direct ac-
tion tactics, or civil disobedience.

Activists from around the nation have
begun mobilizing so as to lend their
support to assist Lorna, Madrid, and
Taylor in their fight for freedom. A le-

gal defense fund has been established to
collect funds so as to aid these three in-
dividuals with legal costs. For more in-

much more local (Burlington, Vermont)
and will be keeping up-to-date on the
case.
