Hundreds from Vermont and hundreds of thousands from
across the country were in Washington, D.C. last month. Now
that we have come back home we will not be silent. Each of us
knows that we are not the only one.

It doesn’t matter how many were counted in D.C. Each one

who was there remembers a time when we thought we were the
only one. When the threat of isolation kept us slient and hidden
and maintained our isolation. Everyone who was there knows
beyond question that our numbers are huge. From one to many
is a big step. It’s irreversible.

It will not always be easy. Not all the press is favorable. Not all
the laws have changed. There are those who still try to slam the
door to silence us. They are still in Congress, in the military, in
our churches and synagogues. They still deface and burn our
homes. But we know now that we have friends and allies.
