I am in the process of applying for an arts
grant which would enable me to publish a
book authored and illustrated by HIV+
persons. Submissions may include poetry,
short stories, illustrations, and journal and
editorial entries. You do not need to ex-
perienced or professional to be included in
this book. Authors may use their legal
names, pen names, or remain anonymous.
Confidentiality is guaranteed.

This type of project has never been done
in Vermont. It is supported by the Ver-
mont AIDS Council, Vermont C.A.R.E.S.
and other organizations. Most importantly,
it is your opportunity to be heard, to ed-
ucate, to enlighten, and to share. Currently
I am focusing on fund-raising ideas for
this endeavor; if you can help or have a
suggestion, I would welcome your input.

a day long conference entitled, Homo-
phobia: Respecting Difierences.

Homophobia strikes almost everyone.
Growing up in a culture that until only re-
cently has begun to try to understand gays
and lesbians, most of us have been exposed
to years of negative images about homo-
sexuality. These images come in many dif-
ferent forms, slanderous degrading jokes,
