Lesbian GALA a Night of Fun gt. by Susan Richardson September 16th was a night of fun and ' inspiration thanks to the Lesbian Gala it Celebration held at City Hall in Burlington. The event was intended as both a tuition fundraiser for Leah Wittenberg and as an opportunity to celebrate the culture and talents of our lesbian community. Among the varied entertainment were 71 original songs by singer/songwriter Jaime Morton, a skit on the perils of bra—buying by “The Gay Panthers,” readings of original writings by Phyllis Sawyer and Gwen Shervington and performances by Matrix (traditional Eastern European music and Kwanzaa Percussion Ensemble. Hopefully the $1300 grossed by the show will be enough to ensure that it be- comes an annual event. The evening left performers and audience alike with a sense of pride in the talent and spirit of our com- munity.
