BADGIRLS from page 10 which her creativity and passion have flourished. Leah has trained extensively in mas- sage therapy and has been working to blend this work with her community work. She has developed a pilot project to explore massage and body work for battered women and has implemented parts of this project. Leah is currently planning to attend a 4 year professional training in the Feld- enkrais method. She says, "The exciting aspect of this event is a community attempting to create new ways to share its resources - to bridge the differences of class and access to 7‘ education that exist among us. What an exciting vision - a possible beginning of a scholarship fund for continuing education - a lesbian and women’s community student assistance organization... As community members, as extended family members, we are part and partici- pant, giver and taker.” June 1988 Stoner McTavish Stoner McTavish by Sarah Dreher c. 1985 New Victoria Publishers, Inc., Box 27, Norwich, VT 05055 Stoner McTavish is a delightful les- bian travel agent from Boston’s Beacon Hill where she lives with her eccentric Aunt Hermione. Aunt Hermione and Marylou Kesselbaum, Stoner’s business partner, coerce Stoner into helping out Mrs. Eleanor Burton. It seems Mrs. Burton’s granddaughter, Gwen, has gone off and married a suspicious young man who, according to Mrs. Burton, is only after Gwen’s money. The ingenious Stoner agrees and sets off on an adventure that takes her to Grand Teton National Park. Sarah Dreher is a mistress of imagery. She will bring the Tetons to life for those who have visited before and for the vicarious traveler alike. Her characters range from the all too human Stoner to the more bizarre characters of Marylou and Aunt Hermione but in the end the reader loves them all. I, like Stoner, "fell instantly in love with the velvety voice and innocent, elec- trifying touch of Gwen. This book will make your heart skipabeat, will fill you with rage, and generally take you along on an adventure executed magnificently by Ms. Dreher. If you love this book as I do, you will also enjoy the continuing stories of Stoner McTavish found in Something Shady, and §}_ray Mag}. I recommend all three as light, entertaining, lesbian reading——en- joy.
