If you haven’t boughta copy of his first CD — Sex and Mayhem a Part One - get it now otherwise you won’t have a ‘ #$%@ing clue as to what the hell is going on in Part Two (clever marketing, huh?). As we plug back into the wild and crazy life of Mr. Currie, we are now entering the Age of Aquarius in San Francisco — filled with frightening fashions and hair, drugs, communal living, and of course sex. Donald’s life with Joseph the “dreamy” drama profes- sor takes a few unexpected twists and turns in Part Two. We are also introduced to a whole new cast of Enough Already! We all likely recall the market- ing but not necessarily the murders related to the infamous Chippendales nightclub whose _ male dancers danced for women only in the 19805. The movie opens with the following statement, “What you are about to see pretty much happened. Although most of the names have been changed for legal reasons, we did use a few Straight Up with a Twist of Lime ime is back after 12 years, with heir newest studio recording, Love Fury. For those of you who didn’t experience the disco era — or just choose notto admit it — Lime is the Canadian husband and wife team, Denis and Denyse LePage, who first electrified the world’s_ dance floors in the early eighties. Their first release in 1981 was Your Love, which included their firsthit single by the same name, and was followed by seven more releases from 1982 to 1988. Lime’s unique and immediately recognizable sound was due in large part to the duo’s contrasting vocals — Denyse’s helium falsetto and Denis’ rocker- raw growl. 0 Martinis — “No need — it's that good!” 1 Martini — “What the hell — just one!” 2 Martinis — “Oh yeah — that’s better!” 3 Martinis — ‘‘You’ll need ’em!” 4 Martinis — “Wake me up when it’s over!” characters including the free spirit Mickey. Part Two is a decidedly darker and seamier side of Dona1d’s life brought forth in a psychedelic mixture of sound and speech. Donald has an amazing way of bringing us back to a time and place we all remember, or at least wish we could remember. Whether you lived through this era or not, you will definitely identify with the drama of finally leaving your parents and realizing that you must be careful what you wish for as you might actually get it and wish you hadn’t. So dust off that bong, drag out the tie-dyed t-shirt and bell-bottom pants, and tune in to another groovy installment in the life of Donald Currie. Max’s personal Martini Rating = ' 1 Martini names of real people who, as a result of their untimely deaths (details to follow), can no longer sue.” This is pretty much the most dramatic moment of the entire movie and one of the many, likely unintentionally, humorous moments you’11 find throughout the movie. ' Chad Patterson, played by Jonathan Aube, is our narrator, the eventual Chippendales poster boy, and the “I don’t dance!” business manager—wannabe. Thank goodness for Chad, whose winning mus- tached million-dollar smile and pecs were the only reason this reviewer even kept watching. The story starts in Los Angeles in 1983 where as they like to say, “... it all began.” For the next 95 minutes we watch as competition and greed With the resurgence of everything eighties, a new genera- tion is rediscovering Lime. The few. who saw Mariah Carey’s Glitter (again no need to self-incriminate — you know who are!) may have caught the Lime song “Babe, We.’re ' Gonna Love Tonight” early in the film. It’s also not surprising that the new wave of electro producers and mixers have enthusiastically embraced, sampled, and re-edited a variety of songs from the Lime repertoire. The most striking thing about Love F my for this reviewer is that it has amazing variety. This CD has everything from “HiNRG” dance tracks to an up-tempo funk rap piece. Starting out the CD is “No Other Love (I Need It Bad)” .which hooks you immediately with its intro keyboards, famous male- female duet vocals, HiNRG/Euro backing track and a percussive Latin rhythm. “Don’t Take It Bad” features Denis Lepage’s strutting lead to the murder of Nick Denoia (the choreographer) by the club owner Steve Banerjee who also gets his due in the end. This film definitely has something to offend just about everyone, especially the few gay references we find. It cannot be denied that the film definitely has lots of bare chests and butts and even one full frontal nude scene which actually has one of the most hysterically funny lines in the movie. So if you are looking for a few “good laughs, a few naked men - giving it to “groupies” in the club’s back rooms, and an 80’s sound- track, then this might just be enough of a movie for you. Max’s personal Martini Rating = 3 Martinis vocals with flamenco guitars, Latin piano, and a trumpet solo that would be the envy of any salsa band. One of my favoritetracks, however, has to be “Making Love _To Me”. This sexy and slow ballad is simply hot. “I’m going give you everything your body needs —just let me know, which way you wanna go and I’ll take you there baby!” Oh yeah! The CD also has two bonus extended remixes of “No Other Love” — the Underground Mix and the Hot Latino Mix. So what are you wait- ing for? Get yourself some Lime today! Max’s personal Martini Rating = 1. Martini V Max is willing to My anything once, does enjoy an occasional martini or two, but prefers 7'z1b‘l/ii.’
