V New Program for AIDS Project of
Southern Vermont. The AIDS Project of
Southern Vermont and Twin States
Women's Network are proud to intro-
duce “Safe Talk,“ a new HIV prevention
program for women in Bennington
County. Women now represent one of
the fastest-growing populations among
people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in the
United States. "Safe Talk" is an oppor-
tunity for local women to come togeth-
er to share their experiences of dating
and intimacy in a safe environment,
and learn the most up-to-date" informa-
tion about HIV/AIDS and safer sex. It's
an opportunity to enjoy time out with
friends and strengthen the Bennington
women's community. Womenare invit-
ed to host Safe Talk parties in their
homes, in return for hosting a party,
receive a-$25-gift e<->rtifica‘t&'rFzood 
childcare reimbursement will be provid-

V The Vermont Council on Women
seeks volunteers to monitor legislative

 

and other public policy work at the

State ‘House directly impacting social
and economic status of Vermont
women and families. The legislative
session runs from January through
early May. During the session
Volunteers will be directed by members
of VCWs Legislative Committee and
will monitor statehouse committee
deliberation, conduct pertinent
research, and work on policy issues
such as reproductive rights, pay equity,
paid family leave, violence against
women, early childhood care, and edu-
cations. Non-session time (June
through December) will be spent
preparing from the upcoming legisla-
tive session, writing for our publica-
tions, and helping plan special events
and projects. Candidates should have
excellent writing skills necessary to
supply a weekly report, strong

research ability, passion for women’s—

issues and public policy, and a’commit-
ment to social justice. Hours are flexi-
