Description
February 23, 1940. This view shows a section of the North End Sewer in front of the Arthur residence just north of Thayer School. The depth of the sewer at this point is approximately sixteen feet. The Austin excavator is being used loading the excavated materials into trucks and dumping it form back filling as fast as the sheeting is pulled with the universal power crane. A No. 160 Ingersol-Rand Air Compressor is being used for breaking through the frost in advance of the trencher and for driving the wood sheeting.
